Pentland Brands is temporarily discontinuing its footwear brand
The British fashion group Pentland Brands is temporarily discontinuing its shoe brand Boxfresh and putting it into “hibernation”. The company initially wants to concentrate on its core brands Speedo, Berghaus, Endura, Canterbury, Miter, Ellesse, Kickers and SeaVees. A total of 350 jobs are to be eliminated at the headquarters in Great Britain.
Pentland had already reviewed its business model before the Covid-19 pandemic, and the crisis has now apparently accelerated the review. “The crisis will have a significant impact on our business for at least the next 12 to 18 months,” said Pentland CEO Andy Long. “As a result, we delved deeper into the needs of the business and the fundamental and sustainable changes needed to achieve long-term success. “
The Boxfresh brand, founded in London in 1989, was acquired by Pentland in 2006. The most important market recently was Germany.
