Weltbild acquires the bell shoe brand Vamos

Comfortable shoe brand will in future be under the umbrella of the multi-channel retailer

The Weltbild D2C Group will take over the Vamos bell brand on January 31, 2024. The aim of this acquisition is to further expand the product range of the Weltbild brand Orbisana in the area of healthy shoes. The acquisition underlines the increased commitment of the multichannel provider Weltbild in the healthcare segment. The group had already acquired the barefoot shoe brand “Groundies” in July.

The Vamos brand is a brand and width specialist that offers its customers healthy shoes in a variety of designs. The range includes comfortable shoes for men and women. The range also includes care products for shoes, bags, wallets, belts and gloves. The brand has been part of the Klingel Group for more than 35 years and is sold in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Austria.

For Klingel, this is another brand transaction in the ongoing self-administration process. The transaction was unanimously approved by Klingel's creditors' committee. “Sales of the Klingel brands are progressing. This is to be seen as positive. We are also in promising negotiations for other brands in the group,” explains Klingel managing director Cord Henrik Schmidt.

“For the Weltbild D2C Group, a particular focus is on the health megatrend, in which we also want to expand further through acquisitions. The healthy shoe provider Vamos is an ideal fit for our Orbisana brand,” explains Christian Sailer, CEO of the Weltbild D2C Group.

The Weltbild D2C Group, which is fully owned by the Düsseldorf-based Droege Group, is one of the largest multi-channel retailers in the area of media and non-media products in the DACH region and a well-known bookstore brand. With its brands Weltbild, Gärtner Pötschke, Orbisana, teNeues, thousandkind, Jokers, Bücher.de, and D2C Recommerce, it operates one of the leading direct-to-consumer platforms (D2C) in German-speaking countries.

In the health sector, the group is represented by the health world Orbisana, which offers a large selection of health products and everyday items online and via mail order and operates around 20 medical supply stores in Germany.

K – Mail Order GmbH & Co. KG, the main company of the Klingel Group based in Pforzheim, has been in self-administration insolvency proceedings since May 2023. The multichannel distance retailer's business operations will continue as part of the process until the end of January 2024. The company is supported in the process by the restructuring company Pluta. The administrator is lawyer Martin Mucha from the national law firm Grub Brugger.
