Exports fell by 6,7 percent in the first half of the year
The Covid-19 pandemic has not spared Vietnam either. In the first six months of 2020, Vietnamese footwear exports fell 6,7 percent to over $8,1 billion. Vietnam is the third largest shoe manufacturer and the second largest shoe exporter in the world after China.
Although numerous companies relocated their production from China to Vietnam at the beginning of the pandemic, the slump in sales could not be prevented. The sales development in May and June had a particular impact here. In the first four months of the year, Vietnamese shoe exports rose by 1,3 percent.
