Mail order company “conditionally satisfied” with financial year
The Austrian mail order group Unito is renamed Otto Austria Group. The group wants to benefit from the consumer brand Otto, which has an awareness level of 90 percent in Austria. The sales brands such as Otto and Universal will remain unchanged on the market. The Otto Austria Group, like Unito before it, is part of the Baur Group, which in turn is part of the Hamburg-based Otto Group.
The Otto Austria Group recorded total sales of 2023 million euros in the 24/1 financial year (from March 2023, 29 to February 2024, 349). That was 3,8 percent less than in the previous year. However, given the market circumstances and the numerous external negative influencing factors, they are “conditionally satisfied”. “2023 was an unusually difficult year for online retail as a whole,” said Harald Gutschi, management spokesman. “In view of the multiple crises (war, inflation, reluctance to buy) we got through the year acceptable.”
