Those who don't have standard feet often have no choice but to buy expensive custom-made shoes from a shoemaker or unfashionable shoes from an orthopedist. Kevin Zürn from Munich wants to change that. He himself always had trouble finding fashionable sneakers that fit his wide feet. Since Kevin studied fashion management, the young inventor developed a clever solution himself. The challenge: How can he combine custom-made shoes with affordability?
Based on a scan of the customer's foot, Kevin uses 3D printing to produce a precisely fitting footbed made of a grid structure. Together with shoe components tailored to the wearer but prefabricated, he creates an individual sneaker. Can the invention withstand our critical tests? Orthopedic specialist Dr. Maximilian Madl also examines the invention from a medical perspective.
