Traditional shoe store in Höxter closes at the end of the year

Clearance sale started at A&K Schuhmoden

A long-standing shoe era in downtown Höxter is coming to an end: The shoe store A&K Schuhmoden at Marktstraße 33 will close its doors at the end of the year, confirmed by owner Alois Schoppmeier. The store is currently undergoing a clearance sale.

The closure of A&K marks the end of another chapter in Höxter's shoe tradition. The neighboring specialty store Schuh-Meyer had already closed in 2019. The renewed closure raises questions about the future of the city center, which is increasingly struggling with vacancies and changing consumer behavior.

"A piece of history is being lost, as many customers have remained loyal to us for generations," says Schoppmeier. The future use of the space is still open.
