With the closing on February 29th, the acquisition of SportScheck by Signa Retail, which also includes Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof and Karstadt Sports, was completed. “The upcoming merger of SportScheck and Karstadt Sports will create the largest omnichannel full-range sports retailer in the German market,” said Dr. Stephan Fanderl, CEO of Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof and Managing Director of Signa Retail. “This creates great future opportunities in the growth market of sport, for which it is worth pooling all our strengths.”
Despite the closing, SportScheck GmbH and Karstadt Sports GmbH are independent companies in which the previous operating structures and the employee committees under works constitution law remain in place.
