This is how Germans pay for online shopping

Online payment services such as PayPal or Klarna are the most popular

Online payment services are the most frequently used payment method for online shopping in Germany. Around 71 percent of people surveyed as part of the Statista Global Consumer Survey stated that they use offers such as PayPal or Klarna when checking out.

In second place, with some distance, are payment by invoice (57 percent) and by direct debit (51 percent). Shopping with a credit card, on the other hand, is less popular: As the Statista graphic shows, around one in three people in Germany uses this option to pay online.

Cash on delivery payment, i.e. upon receipt of the goods, is the least popular option in this country. Only around six percent of survey participants recently took advantage of this option. However, this is also due to the fact that this option is increasingly rarely offered on the Internet.
