The oversize specialist is opening another branch in the summer
In the summer, the oversize specialist Schuhplus from Dörverden in Lower Saxony is opening its fourth branch in Posthausen. Dodenhof, Northern Germany's largest shopping center, is located there.
The times surrounding Corona are affecting the expansion course, but the company bosses Kay Zimmer and Georg Mahn also emphasize that they do not want to be overwhelmed by the outsized effects. “As a leading mail order company for large shoes, we have a broad base, were prudently prepared for the closures of our locations and implemented targeted campaigns to digitally compensate for the stationary losses. You have to face the pandemic with respect and appropriate measures, without question, but you can't forget about breathing and life prospects. Intelligent people argue about the sense and nonsense of the shutdown. Many entrepreneurs observe economic events from a state of shock and remain motionless. That is not a suitable path, because looking ahead has to be crucial,” says managing director Kay Zimmer (45).
Especially in difficult times, which are characterized by social fear and uncertainty, we must look ahead clearly and precisely with optimism and drive, an unmistakable signal effect, emphasizes partner Georg Mahn (43). “The population is longing for normality. There is life after Corona in the medium term - and with another branch we are now ensuring that we continue to build up our market placement in stationary retail and place the schuhplus trademark on the market. We look forward to new challenges, new customers and new experiences.”
With over 4000 brands, 48 stores and over five million visitors annually, Dodenhof in Posthausen is northern Germany's largest shopping center with more than 120.000 square meters of sales space. Although the location is only a 30-minute drive from the Schuhplus headquarters, the Schuhplus bosses are still convinced by the added value of the new branch on around 250 square meters.
“Our headquarters in Dörverden has established itself positively over ten years and we regularly gain new customers. Nevertheless, shopping centers are popular hotspots and serve a customer clientele that we cannot reach. “We are closing a supply gap, benefiting from a high level of attention and, thanks to our proximity to headquarters, we can even guarantee daily refills,” explains Zimmer. Due to the current Corona measures and the measures applicable to Lower Saxony, the final opening date is still under discussion, but “we will definitely be represented in the area with our big shoes at Dodenhof in Posthausen in the summer,” said the XL shoe men confidently .
