Co-founder wants to devote more time to his family in the future
The co-CEO of Zalando SE Rubin Ritter will end his role on the board after more than eleven years at the 2021 annual general meeting. Ritter asked Supervisory Board Chairman Cristina Stenbeck to terminate his contract, which runs until November 2023, early.
In a statement, Ritter said he wanted to give his “life a new direction. I would now like to devote more time to my growing family.” His wife's career will be a priority in the coming years. “And for my own future I would like more freedom to pursue new interests beyond Zalando.”
Robert Gentz, David Schneider and Rubin Ritter have led Zalando as equal co-CEOs since 2010. Since then, the company has grown from a startup to Europe's leading online platform for fashion and lifestyle with 14.000 employees and an annual gross merchandise volume of over 10 billion euros. Robert Gentz and David Schneider will continue to lead the company as co-CEOs following Rubin Ritter's departure.
