Orthopedics trade fair in Leipzig canceled
The OTWorld.connect 2020, trade fair and world congress, will take place exclusively digitally from October 27th to 29th. After intensive discussion with representatives of the exhibitor advisory board and the program committee, the Federal Guild Association for Orthopedic Technology (BIV-OT) as the ideal sponsor and the Leipziger Messe as the organizer jointly decided to hold OTWorld.connect exclusively digitally.
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, the OTWorld team has developed an innovative new event concept that is also effective in times of pandemic. A hybrid format was created that provides digital offerings, but was also able to incorporate a reduced on-site event: OTWorld.connect. The Leipziger Messe developed a hygiene concept approved by the authorities for the face-to-face event.
“In view of the travel warnings, quarantine regulations and further local lockdowns, uncertainty is increasing worldwide. The aim here is to create safe conditions for exhibitors and visitors from more than 100 countries who meet every two years in Leipzig to exchange expertise. Against this background, everyone involved has mutually decided to concentrate on the digital event and forego the face-to-face event,” explains Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of the Leipziger Messe.
The scientific conference program will be presented digitally – in German and English. More than 250 presentations from over 20 countries invite interactive peer exchange. The final program will be available on the event website from the end of August 2020: www.ot-world.com . With this digital program, OTWorld.connect offers the industry a platform for professional development and networking, even during the pandemic.
