Organizers want to offer digital offerings as a trade fair replacement
Between March 20th and 24th they were scheduled to take place in Milan at the Rho Fiera exhibition center: the leading Italian trade fairs in the areas of leather, shoes, leather goods and fashion. On the evening of February 3rd, the organizers pulled the ripcord. The Lineapelle leather fair, the Micam shoe fair, the Mipel leather goods fair, the TheOneMilano women's fashion fair and the Homi fashion jewelry fair were canceled.
Despite the current easing of the lockdown in Italy, in which many regions of the country have now been declared yellow zones, the Italian government has decided that all trade fairs will remain prohibited until March 5th. Even if it were possible to organize trade fairs again from March 6th, the organizers did not see themselves in a position to put together a format that matched the reputation of the events. It was also assumed that due to the travel restrictions, only a few visitors from abroad would have been able to visit the trade fairs.
In the coming weeks, the organizers will endeavor to provide existing exhibitors and visitors with a trade fair replacement via digital offers, although it is clear that these offers can never represent a real replacement for an in-person trade fair, according to a statement from the organizers .
