City of Rosenheim names square after Gabor founder
Marienberger Straße 31, the headquarters of the Gabor headquarters in Rosenheim, has become Joachim-Gabor-Platz 24 since August 1th. The city is honoring the life's work of company co-founder Joachim Gabor, who died in 2013.
Together with his brother Bernhard Gabor, he initiated the relocation of the company headquarters from Barmstadt in the far north to Rosenheim. However, the opening in 1966 was overshadowed by Bernhard's early death.
In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Joachim Gabor was involved in many cultural and social areas, supported numerous facilities such as sports facilities, museums and kindergartens in Rosenheim and donated the citizens' fountain, which today stands in front of the RoMed Clinic.
Joachim-Gabor-Platz was inaugurated by Rosenheim's mayor Andreas März, who was accompanied by numerous city representatives, as well as by Achim Gabor, the son of the namesake and chairman of the board of Gabor Shoes AG.
