Humanic resurrects advertising character Franz

Board members Michael Rumerstorfer and Wolfgang Neussner

After 26 years in the archive, the advertising icon returns

Grazer Leder & Schuh AG has brought its advertising character Franz out of the archive after 26 years. “When, if not now?” say board members Michael Rumerstorfer and Wolfgang Neussner: “We all need signals of courage!” The slogan “Ask Franz” is now intended to shape a new era of shoes at Humanic, according to a statement. And the company's 150th anniversary next year will also be heralded with this relaunch of the character that characterized Humanic advertising from 1969 to 1995.

The graphic designer and performance artist Karl Neubacher created the iconic hand-foot logo as a colorful victory sign, and in 1971 star director Axel Corti turned a first name into the iconic epitome that made history: Franz! Only a realignment at Humanic in 1995 gave Franz a creative break in an archive room at the company headquarters.
