Attack by Russian hackers was repelled

Luxury department store operator KaDeWe Group was attacked by a Russian hacker group last week. The attackers are said to be the hacker group “Play” from Russia. The KaDeWe Group said the attack was averted by existing security and warning systems as well as immediate precautionary measures. The police and the data protection authority were called in and criminal charges were filed.

The immediate protective measures contained the effects of the attack. There is no evidence that personal account details, payments or passwords from customers' online accounts are affected. Operations and purchases with card payments in luxury department stores and online stores were safe at all times. The KaDeWe Group's IT systems were put into offline emergency mode over the weekend.
