Department store group moves into office complex in Unterbilk
The head office of the Galeria department store group is moving from Essen to Düsseldorf as planned. However, the company's headquarters will not be in the Karstadt building on Schadowstrasse as initially announced. The approximately 400 employees will be housed in the large rwi 4 office complex on Völklinger Strasse in the Unterbilk district. Galeria has rented around 6700 square meters of space.
The Galeria headquarters will gradually be relocated to Düsseldorf from May, the company announced. The move is expected to be completed by the end of the year. "With the rwi4 building near the Media Harbour, we have created the perfect conditions for Galeria. The service center is located in such a way that we, as a retail company, are close to what defines us - the branches in the best inner-city locations," says Galeria CEO Olivier Van den Bossche.
Until now, the company, which merged Karstadt and Kaufhof to form Galeria, had its headquarters in the former Karstadt headquarters in Essen-Bredeney. The former headquarters of Galeria Kaufhof in Cologne had already been closed at the end of 2019.
