Grandson of the Puma founder was only 64 years old
Frank A. Dassler, the grandson of Puma founder Rudolf Dassler, died on June 20th in Hamburg, shortly after his 64th birthday. Born on June 14, 1956 in Nuremberg, Dassler was president of the US subsidiary of Puma from 1985 to 1987. In 1989 he founded his law firm, which still exists today. From 2004 to 2018 he was head of the legal department at Adidas.
Dassler shows particular commitment to the international industry associations in the sector. He was a board member of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) for 13 years and was also its president from 2014 to 2017. He followed in the footsteps of his father, who was a founding member of the WFSGI from 1986 to 1989 and also its president. From 2010 to 2013, Frank Dassler was also President of the European Sporting Goods Industry Association (FESI). In 2017 he was re-elected to head the European organization.
