Men's fashion retailer points to competitive pressure and high rents
The men's fashion specialist Eckerle has to close another store. After closures in Frankfurt am Main, Augsburg and Nuremberg, the parent store in Munich is now being closed, as the company, which is part of the Hirmer Group, announced.
The doors of the Munich branch on Theatinerstrasse will close next summer after more than 70 years, as economic success is not foreseeable locally, says managing director Daniel Kanis. The reason for this is not only the fact that pre-pandemic levels have not been reached, but also the high competitive pressure in Munich's city center and the continuing rise in rents for commercial properties.
