Business operations will continue to be maintained
On June 4th, the Dielmann Group filed applications for the opening of protective shield proceedings with the responsible district court in Darmstadt for Schuhhaus Dielmann GmbH & Co. KG and Sporthaus Robert Hübner GmbH. The court complied with this and ordered the provisional self-administration of both companies with a total of 48 branches and 890 employees.
As a result of the contact restrictions imposed nationwide for several weeks and nationwide branch closures, Dielmann's sales collapsed completely. The measures implemented by management as a direct result have had a short-term effect. Since the loan application for the necessary bridging financing was rejected by KfW last week, the situation had to be reassessed.
The aim of the protective shield procedure is now to overcome the current crisis situation and to position the group's companies, taking into account all legal options, so that they can survive on the market in the long term. In the course of this, Dr. Thomas Dielmann and Markus Dielmann are stepping down from their respective management roles, but will continue to be available to the companies in an advisory capacity. The management of Schuhhaus Dielmann GmbH & Co. KG will now be taken over by retail expert Michael Specht and lawyer and restructuring expert Dr. Georg Bernsau from the law firm BBL Bernsau Brockdorff. The managing directors of Sporthaus Robert Hübner GmbH are now lawyer Steffen Schneider from the law firm BBL Bernsau Brockdorff and Dr. Kristian Schneider.
Business operations in all branches and the online shop Sommerkind.de will also be maintained during the protective shield procedure.
