Shoe retailer supports university in the shoe town of Pirmasens with scholarships
The shoe retailer Deichmann is awarding ten scholarships for the “Leather and Textile Technology” course of study for the coming winter semester. The Deichmann Foundation has concluded a corresponding agreement with the Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences for its location in Pirmasens. As a result, the students receive monthly funding totaling 300 euros each for a year.
“Our goal is long-term cooperation with the university,” says Jakob Adolf, project coordinator at the Deichmann Foundation. “In addition, the shoe industry consistently has a need for qualified young talent.”
The bachelor's degree program in Pirmasens, which is unique in Germany, provides in-depth knowledge along the value chain of the textile and leather industry. It is based on current market requirements and the increased use of weight-reducing and sustainable materials. In order to impart the necessary knowledge, the course combines the basics of engineering, materials science and polymer chemistry with practical areas such as quality management, material testing, CAD design, process digitalization, shoe production and sustainability in the textile and leather industry.
