The Italian shoe industry is mourning the loss of Letizia Galli. The long-time co-owner of the traditional company Brunate died on the night of August 1st at the age of 105. Until just a few weeks before her death, she regularly came to the office and personally checked the invoices.
Galli took over responsibility for the family business in 1939 at the age of only 19, following the early death of her father, Vittorio. For more than eight decades, she shaped the development of Brunate and guided the company through war, economic crises, and profound changes in the shoe industry.
In an interview with SHOEZ, she described her work as her life. Passion, dedication, and a positive attitude had particularly shaped her as an entrepreneur. Brunate had been both "life and home" for her.
Letizia Galli died in the year that Brunate celebrated its 100th anniversary. The company honored her as a defining figure and a tireless role model for dedication and a sense of responsibility.
