Property damage amounting to 300.000 euros
In the early morning hours of July 11, a fire broke out in a shoe store on Lange Straße in Waren. Around 5 a.m., witnesses noticed heavy smoke and alerted the fire department. Nine residents of the apartments above were awakened in time and brought to safety unharmed.
The fire caused significant property damage totaling approximately €300.000. A neighboring bookstore was also affected by smoke. Firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to the living quarters.
Based on initial investigations, police suspect serious arson. Witnesses are asked to report any information about suspicious persons or observations between 4 and 5 a.m. in the Lange Straße/Mauerstraße area to Waren Police Headquarters.
