Launch of the camel-active women's collection
The bag specialist Beheim International Brands with its brands Gabor bags, Tom Tailor bags and camel active Bags looks back on “one of the more difficult years”. There was a slight decline in sales in 2019, said managing director Michael Beheim at a press conference on the occasion of the ILM leather goods fair in Offenbach, without giving specific figures. In particular, many smaller customers were lost due to business closures. But the Karstadt-Kaufhof merger also had a negative impact on the result.
There was a positive development at camel active Bags with a seven percent increase in sales. Starting next season, the brand will enter a new era with a women's collection. Since the order was placed in March 2020, camel active has been offering a capsule consisting of six women's bags groups in addition to women's purses. The highlights are the styles made of vegetable-tanned leather and an interpretation of modern puffer bags.
While the spring/summer collections have already been delivered and Beheim can still deliver, Michael Beheim is worried about the fall/winter collection because of the Corona crisis. “We are in constant communication with our partners, but something changes every day,” says the company boss, describing the situation. Beheim is hoping for a positive boost from licensor Gabor's TV campaign in March and April on channels such as ARD, ZDF and RTL, in which bags will also be shown.
In addition to sales with new agencies for camel active bags in Austria and Belgium/Netherlands as well as for Gabor bags in Sweden, Romania and Hungary, Beheim also invested in its design department. Since August 2019, Heike Köhler has been responsible for the design of the BIB licensed collections in cooperation with Christine Beheim. It is the first time that an external designer has joined the family business's design team.
