Net sales in the first half of the year increase by 18 percent
Japanese sportswear company Asics has significantly raised its full-year profit forecast from a year ago as demand for its sports shoes increases both domestically and abroad.
Asics expects record operating profit of 95 billion yen (556,1 million euros) for the current year, an increase of 64 percent from the previous estimate of 58 billion yen (339,5 million euros). The company also expects full-year net sales of 660 billion yen (3,9 billion euros) and net profit of 58 billion yen (339,5 million euros).
This revised forecast is supported by the company's preliminary results for the first half of the year. Consolidated net sales rose by 17,9 percent to 341,9 billion yen (2,0 billion euros). Asics grew in all regions.
In particular, demand for revival models and the Onitsuka Tiger brand fueled sales growth. The weak yen also provided a boost.
