Permira retains majority stake in Italian shoe brand
The Hong Kong-based family office of Joe Tsai, co-founder and chairman of the Alibaba Group, has acquired a 12 percent stake in the Italian company Golden Goose. The majority stake is still held by the investment company Permira, which joined the shoe manufacturer in 2020.
"We warmly welcome Blue Pool Capital as a strategic partner on our journey to redefine luxury," said Silvio Campara, CEO of Golden Goose. Campara praised Blue Pool's expertise and "their deep connections" in the US and Asia-Pacific, as well as "their impressive portfolio of sports investments."
Since 2020, Golden Goose has more than doubled its revenue and built a community of over 1,8 million customers. Golden Goose is present in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific with more than 200 stores and an online and wholesale distribution network.
"We strongly believe in Golden Goose and its team - its positioning at the intersection of luxury and sportswear is truly unique and we are confident that we can support Silvio and his team in unlocking the brand's potential," said Oliver Weisberg, CEO of Blue Pool Capital. Weisberg will join the board of Golden Goose.
Only in June, the company postponed its IPO at the last minute due to the volatility of the European markets.
